John King

John L. King is a professor in the School of Information and vice provost for academic information for the U-M.

King joined SI on January 1, 2000 as professor and dean of the School. Previously, he was professor of information and computer science and management and a research scientist in the Center for Research on Information Technology and Organizations at the University of California, Irvine.

On June 1, 2006, he accepted a position as vice provost for academic information. In this position, he is involved directly in the governance of many of U-M's primary information technology operations, including Information Technology Central Services, the IT Commons, and the Digital Media Commons. King oversees a number of key projects developing innovative new applications that use information technology for research, education, and community service. He also works closely with the University Library.
